Hello! Anyone out there? Are you all very busy, like me, in the lead up to Christmas? And........................ how come wrapping gifts takes so long?
This year has actually been a crochet year for me, and at one point, I thought I was dangerously close to deserting my first love, knitting, for my NOW first love, crochet. But it appears I've done nothing of the sort, because this year I completed three knitted wearable items, and am currently getting ready to dive into another knitted thingy, don't know what that thingy is yet.
There are some fabulous patterns in this book, that I'd like to knit some time in the future. When I first leafed through it, one pattern, 'the Seawaves jumper', shouted out to me as a must-knit immediately.
Don't you think there's something quite modern about this jumper? Despite being from a 1940's pattern?
And the shoulder pads have the effect of giving me a bit of a waist, which is always a nice thing, isn't it?! And I tell ya, this was an easy knit, which looks quite difficult to knit. People don't believe me when I say it wasn't a difficult pattern.
When I like something I've knitted, I always want to knit it again in a different colour way. This is something I did this year, which I learnt was a big mistake, not because it turned out badly, no, I thought the second attempt was more successful than the first. No, it was just so tedious to knit the same thing again. So while it is tempting to knit this Seawaves pattern again, in different colours, and longer sleeves, maybe I shouldn't, given my boredom threshold.
Maybe if I used LOTS of colours? Hmmm............ Better not.
If you decide to knit this pattern, you'll be guanteed to get a good reaction when you wear it, it's so unusual. I knitted it using Patons 'Diploma Gold' 4 ply. This yarn is excellent, in my experience, and good value for money.
Okey-dokey, I'm going to head off now. Sorry if my blogging is a bit erratic at the moment, you know how it is.............. Christmas approaching fast, my Mum and Dad arriving tomorrow............... I don't want to make any promises about blogging over Christmas, as the whirlwind of festivities often doesn't leave much time for saying hello, but I'll try and pop in to say hello, nevertheless. Thanks for popping by and saying hello! Love Vanessa xxx
