On Sunday afternoon, Hugo and I took the doggies on a Snowdrop walk, at Mellerstain.
We were allowed to let the dogs off the leash, and they strutted around the grounds as though they owned the place............
It was a fine day, not too cold.
The Snowdrop walk is at the beginning of its inception, so while there were lots of Snowdrops to see, in time it will be glorious.
The man taking the Snowdrop walk, seemed to be very much the driving force behind the whole concept, it's his 'baby'.
On our way round the grounds we were approached by an older gentleman.
The guide greeted him with, "hello, Mi Lord".
Lord Haddington then joined us on the walk, and was very friendly and chatty .............. which was nice!
Towards the end of the walk, people started to make conversation, and at one point I talked to someone called Lachlan. He and his partner have a company called ROAM,
making luxury blankets for the home, and children.
I love learning about new things like this.
At the end of the walk, we had a cup of tea, and a slice of cake, and I bought a clump of Snowdrop bulbs, from those displayed in huge crates.
My own Mellerstain Snowdrops to plant, and watch spreading round our garden.
And with regards to the Mellerstain Snowdrop walk, even though it's going to take a few years for the Snowdrops to get established, and create a carpet of flowers, there were enough that had established themselves, to create a magical effect.
Hopefully we'll go back again next year, and each following year if we can....... what a great way to mark the passage of time.
I love snowdrops - they fill me with such hope. I just realised that I spent a whole afternoon reading 'No Place Like Home' over and over to my cousin's son last year - so thanks for that! :P I think you would have been proud to hear my voices - Mole had a Brizzle burr, Squirrel was a cockney, and Rabbit had a very squeaky voice!

what a really lovely idea, you'll be able to watch the snowdrop walk develop, and think I was there when it first started.
those blankets are pretty amazing, not sure what J would think if I bought a leopard spotted one!

I love the idea of you going back year after year. I used to want to get married in early spring so I could have a bouquet of snowdrops - so romantic! However I ended up with orchids in sri lanka but that's another story!

When you go back year after year...
You start a memory bank of ...
Remembering ... a lovely thing to do together...and that was lovely to be able to take E&D with you...
hope we see some pics of these two soon {:>)
