What lovely pictures.

I can't wait to see what your basement looks like. I've never seen an English basement even though I lived there. I didn't think they were legal. Could you please show us what it looks like before the builders come?

good luck Vanessa! let me know if your cupboard clearing out reveals any out of date spices that are older than mine were. I hope for it doesn't last too long, and even though it will get worse before it gets better it will all be worth it!!! xx

Well you have two little helper's ...
how cute they will look with the builders dust on their paws and nose...
Have you warned the builders of Douglas
& Ellie's other name's...
DIY & ERS...and their motto is
ALWAYS PAWS ON....Good Luck {:>)

Lucy

oh how exciting!!!!!
I hope the upheaval isn't too distressing for you and your furry children.
Please do tell us more though, I love hearing about housey things, the bigger the better!! Are you putting a kitchen into your basement (we are considering doing this also)...
plllease don't feel pressured to put on a bloggin "show" over teh coming weeks, I think the more REal blogs are the more fascinating somehow. I'm sure all your avid readers will love to hear how it all progresses, dirty building pictures and all.
Sending hugs!
Lx

Well I'll be interested in any pictures you want to show, but don't worry about not blogging as much.
I hate to say it but it's going to be hideous but really well worth it in the end!! :D
('martha of jelliejamsdolls' on my blog list just had her kitchen done so might be worth checking out how she survived!)

Pam

I have only lived through a few major renos, but the kitchen is the hardest--ours went swimmingly, ending in just 3 weeks, as planned (and we spent one of those weeks away skiing, so we only lived through 2 weeks of workmen. As the painters left, having repainted the insides of the cupboards, I asked when we could put the dishes back in--30 days was the answer! The answer for us, of course, was a wonderful catering service which delivered a week's worth of microwave reheatable meals at a time--THAT was a hard habit to break once things were back to normal...
Good luck, & I look forward to an interesting blog documentation of the process.

Casey

Good luck surviving the chaos! I'd love to redo my basement but am scared of what you describe. There's also the money issue. I'm sure it will all be worth it and am interested in any pictures you manage to post!

Anne

Oh! How perfect! We're gutting and re-doing our kitchen next year and I'm starting to panic over all the choices (flooring, cabinets, hardware, oh my!). I can't wait to see what you do!

Jen

How fun! I'm looking forward to watching the progress.

Be brave Vanessa. It will be worth it in the end and if you take pictures as you go along you will always remember what a transformation you have achieved.
