I think the gift (and the label) are gorgeous, and it's a real shame that your sister didn't. giving something that you've made from the heart means so much, and when it's well received gives you so much back, so I guess it's why we do it, even when sometimes it doesn't work as we hoped, and someone forgot to read that "manual".

Oh, the disappointment! I think your sister is an ungracious grumpycakes. The corsage is simply wonderful. Even though she did not like it, she should have appreciated the wonderful wrapping and realized that a lot of time and love went into it.

It is fun to give something home-made but only if the person receiving it appreciates the effort. If not - it is much better to buy the present and make something for yourself instead because you will definitely know how much precious time was used.

A VERY SWEET GIFT...
SOME TIMES IT IS DIFFACULT FOR PEOPLE
TO "SEE" THE GIFT IN THE SAME LIGHT AS
"THE GIVER"
THE GIFT IS NOT DIMINISHED BECAUSE OF THIS
IT HAS ENHANCED THE MAKER...AND THAT IS ALL THAT MATTER'S...

I can see how you felt hurt, but maybe your sister didn't mean it to sound the way it came out?
I understand completely how you feel about giving handmade presents. I recently made an embroidered lavender pillow for my friends birthday (from a drawing her daughter had done). It took me a long time to get it right. I know she liked it, but I wanted her to LOVE it... but then maybe my expectations were too high knowing how long I had spent on it.
Anyway I adore the brooch and I'm sure given some time your sister will too.

Oh it's tough. When you've handmade something - anything - it automatically becomes more than the sum of its parts. And sometimes, some people can't see the whole. Maybe we forget we're the lucky ones who are able to 'see' art, craft and design for what it truly is. Life enhancing.
