I wouldn't be surprised if you presumed I had given up knitting.................. But the truth is, I've been merrily knitting away................through all the turmoil of the
building works, (which seemed to go on for an eternity this year), and since they were finished. ...................... It's the thing I do when I'm sitting in front of the television ..................... knit, knit, knit................. I can never just be sitting and watching t.v. and not knitting, to not knit while I'm watching the television would be like a slow form of torture ................... under very special circumstances, like a very good film, my knitting and I will part company .................

I have three jumpers/cardigans finished, another jumper which is just waiting to be sewn up, (the knitting is finished), there are also a couple of scarves, and a beret I haven't shown you yet ......................... You may not all be knitting fans, so I won't show
all my knitting content this week, I'll spread it out over time ...................

Today, I'm showing you "The Mermaid Jacket", it's a pattern designed by .......................
Hanne Falkenberg, you can see the pattern
here.

I was given the 'kit' by Hugo, as a Birthday gift ................. in the kit you get all the yarn you need for your chosen size, (and extra), I knitted a size medium .......

................ I thought you might like to see what it's like on me.................

............... A little closer......................

And a back view.................(different jeans because this photo was taken on a different day............ the dark days have been making taking photographs tricky)............................. Hugo takes these photographs of me modeling my knit wear, he does a fantastic job...................

.............. And lastly, here's one without the distracting frilly scarf............
I must say, it looks like a tricky one to knit, but really, it wasn't. It was all knitted in garter stitch (knit all rows). And there was enough interest in the changes of colours, not to grow bored. The dart effect is achieved by 'short-row shaping', and I think it's those darts, creating a fitted, curvy look, that really make this a lovely jacket................ I think it's a wonderful design, and I would love to knit more Hanne falkenberg designs ............ I think her
plisse design is beautiful ....................
gloria is rather lovely too ............ If you decide you would like to knit one of hanne Falkenberg's patterns, and you need morale support, or have questions, there is a
knitalong, to help you on your way. And there is an amazing person called Amy who has done
spreadsheets for some of Hanne's patterns .............. I used the mermaid spreadsheet, and it was superb.......................... So there it is, a bit of knitting! I have to say, I enjoyed knitting this pattern a lot (especially with the help of Amy's spreadsheets!) ............... infact, I enjoyed knitting it so much, and I wear this jacket so often, I've started knitting another mermaid jacket................ in different colours..............
You are a very fine knitter as well as a very fine artist! I love the mermaid jacket. I like the colours and the shaping. I like the look of knitted garments but have never got into knitting, mainly because I can't control two needles and put the wool around without letting go of the needle! Crochet was 'my thing' many years ago. I enjoy the process of crochet but dislike joining the pieces together!

Oh, knitting, yes!!! Please show more.
I love to knit. I knit when we read books out loud and when I'm watching movies, riding in the car, waiting at doctor's appointments, whenever there is a moment that I can use my hands and still pay attention to what's going on...or not! Your jacket is lovely and inspiring. I'm going to be trying some larger pieces soon. Right now I'm working on a shrug. Almost done.
Lovely yarn in the jacket, by the way. What is it?

The mermaid looks great on you. I am wearing mine right now. A friend has tried reaching Amy with no success and her blog hasn't been updated in a long time.
Any info on her whereabouts or how to reach her?
