When you're a very small dog like Ellie here, (a Miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund, to be precise), ................. pretending to be a cushion is a genuine hazard................

............. Now Douglas, (who is in the foreground in the photo above), Douglas is cautious by nature ................

............"Yeah Mum............ well if you had almost been sat upon as many times as I have............... you might not want to 'pretend to be a cushion'................."

............."Yeah......... life's tough in this house" .....................

"Isn't it Ellie?"

"Ellie?"

Sigh................ "Of course, we don't get enough love in this house ............... We're starved too if you must know ................. starved, starved, starved ............ starved of .............biscuits................ yes, biscuits and love................... deprivation springs to mind if you must know the truth............."

.........."You see, Ellie here .................. she's tough............ independent you know............... but me................"

" I need love. To some of my furry compatriots, a hundred cuddles a day are plenty................ me................ well, I don't mind admitting it .................. I'm needy................ yes ..................... needy". ....................................................................................

"Douglas............... if I can just interrupt your flow for one moment................"

"Returning to the subject of which you wandered away from just ever so teensy, weensy bit tiny bit slightly ................. 'being a cushion among cushions'.................... I've never had someone almost sit on me. You want to know why? The reason, my dear little unloved and uncuddled brother ................... is that I possess something that would immediately alert someone to the fact that they are just about to sit on me ........................ Do you want to know what that is my small furry friend, who never gets any love and likes to go on, and on and on about it ................? The reason is................I have..... well I have things called ......................"

"TEETH!".............................................
Well aren't they the most cute and adorable "cushions" that you can find, and they don't need plumping up, and theyr'e self inflating. Don't you want to just cuddle them to death. Have a good weekend!!

I am in love with your dogs ..... oh how I long to scoop them up and cuddle them to bits! We have a very large ragdol called Alfie, who is the size of a small dog but very independant. I grew up with dogs and although I love cats it's not the same. But Working families and all that.... we have enough trouble giving Alfie enough attention! There he is crying now ...breakfast time....

I love your dogs! I have just caught up so wanted to say.. you can't have too many pebbles! I took my 2 year old to a toddler group on firday and she asked to sit down with one of the books, I read it to her and enjoyed it then turned back to see the author and the title and saw you were the illustrator! I think it was "Where there is a bear, there is trouble". I was very proud to know my daughter has such good taste in picture books!

Pretending to be a cushion is a tough job but somebody has got to do it, it especially helps if you are totally cute. There's something about doggy noses that I adore!
