I was thinking that it's a good year for red berries .................... Last year wasn't so plentiful, I seem to recall....................

............... I've been asked what I'm going to paint, this time of year, seeing as the garden is preparing to shut down for the winter .................... At the moment, it's easy ..................... berries................... I love their colours, and their simple, sculptural forms ............... And to be honest, the word 'florist' springs to mind ...................... it may not be quite the same as using the flowers from my garden, but as I don't have strict rules when it comes to sourcing material for my still lives, I may well be seeing more of my local florist in the next few months ..................

I particularly enjoyed painting these berries ................ berries and hips in a small cup, so simple, yet just so satisfying .......................
I love the presentation, the real berries almost frame the work....and my favourite colour too...red... I find Autumn colours the best of all, magestic in a very humble way, none of the show of the summer flowers, they they are, providing food and nuture ...very graceful and at peace...

I have had plentiful berries in my garden this year too. I may just put some in a jam jar and have a go at painting them before the birds take them all! There is something very serene about your berry painting. I like the colour of the contrasting background against the full red and juicy looking berries.

perfection in a cup! Even better than going to the florist - get someone to go to the florist and buy flowers for you! t.xx

Hi Vanessa
Love this little painting, it seems as if I could reach out and pluck the berries off the screen they are so lifelike.
I was thinking about leaves the other day too, that they are so beautiful at this time of year. I've been pressing some to make a decoration but never thought to put them in a jar/pot like flowers? might try that!
