It's a no-brainer............. a conversation over the telephone with my four year old Niece, Millie, in which she tells me that she loves everything I make for her, and she loves me! It's very easy to make things for a person who says such lovely things....................
About a month before Christmas, I started knitting this wrap-over cardigan for Millie.............. (and crocheting something else, which I'll show you next week)..................It's a pattern from Bergere de France, called 'cross-over cardigan', and I knitted it in Bergere de France's 'Ideal' yarn. I found myself knitting this with no time to spare, and finished it just before we went away for Christmas.
As you can see, the finished piece was a little too big............... Millie will grow into it.............. I always underestimate how small she is!
Millie is five years old now................ so you can see the lasting effect her loving words have had............. I'll never forget Millie telling me in her little voice that she loves everything I make her.............. With those words, Millie unwittingly created a special place in my heart for her.
Look at those little hands! I know I'm biased, but I'm not the only one who thinks Millie is beautiful............. We all watched while a little boy chased Millie around the lounge area of the hotel, eventually catching her, and giving the non-plussed Millie a big hug........................ Very sweet................
I've knitted patterns translated from a different language before, and should learn not to do this again........... especially when there are so many well written patterns out there. Still, I'd recommend this yarn, 'Ideal', by Bergere de France . It's very soft, and is meant to be unshrinkable............... And having put the finished cardigan in the washing machine, (on a hand wash, just in case), it came out with no ill effects at all. And they do a good range of nice bright colours............ not too expensive................ I think Millie liked this cardigan I knitted for her, but to be fair, it was over shadowed by something else I made her............... something pretty and pink............ and which she took everywhere with her for the rest of the holiday................ I'll show you next week................ Have a good weekend..............
...I know exactly what you mean...I tuck away all the things that Poll's says...and my students...today a big lumbering year 11 said he loved grapes and he loved me...but unfortunately it was a no go situation as he had a girl friend...(and I am old enough to be his gran...thought I) lovely jumper...Pollys would love it...but our fluent french speaker doesn't knit....love and hugs H

Hi Vanessa, I love Millie's cardigan. I have 3 great neices to knit for and my neice has started Poppy Yarns and stocks some interesting yarns and patterns!
