The experience of a skiing holiday, isn't all about the skiing........... there's the stopping for mulled wine and hot chocolate at some slope-side chalet restaurant/bar.......... Some of us put this as a higher priority than others................ I'm in the high priority camp.
I thought I was in the mulled wine high priority camp, but I found that after drinking my 'vin chaud', and feeling a little 'odd' as I swept off down the slopes.............. I converted to the hot chocolate high priority party.................
It wasn't as a result of the mulled wine that I was seeing hearts every where............ They were just.............. all over the place........... I thought they were the most charming thing.................
......... I found myself falling for the charms of the rustic, folk-arty decoration.......
............ And each place we stopped in had it's own personality, the owners personal take on chalet adornment...............
......... There seemed to be a tremendous crafting tradition, with the most humble objects becoming things of great beauty, by the addition of simple carving.........
............. Simplicity was often the key to the feeling of homeliness coming from the decoration...............
............. I loved the use of this detail from a border for a curtain, as a picture........ there were these little machine made embroideries dotted all over the walls...........
Hearts are associated with sentiment, and some don't like too much sentiment........... but when you've just come in from the snowy chill of the slopes, well, sentimental hearts go just fine with warming hot chocolate........... I loved all those hearts...........
It all looks very pretty. I've never been skiing but I always fancy the apres-ski most!

Looks lovely. Oh how I adore skiing, used to go every Easter as a child, but would love to go for the Christmas period.

Oh lovely pictures! I'm all for hearts - everywhere! I'm definately in the hot chocolate camp. I find the lack of a hot chocolate can definately ruin a good walk. Of course if I'm in North Norfolk then it's off to the Albatross for Hot Chocolate and Baileys - now that pips mulled wine any day! t.xx

Beautiful photos, V! I can't seem to remember to take my camera out when up on the slopes...and I'm sure I'd drop mine when on the chair lift! But now I have yours to help me remember how nice it is to be up in the air.
So glad you had a wonderful time. Hope you're over your cold.
