My Niece, Millie, has quite a bit of bling for her age............ five years old. And most of it is my fault.

I buy her the majority of the stuff................. I think there might be a slight worry on her Dad's behalf that I'm cultivating a love of cheap, garish plastic jewelery in my Niece. Or maybe Millie and I just share a liking for bright colours.

I often think that the jewelery produced for children is far more interesting than the more tasteful and restrained adult jewelery you find on the high street. Every time I buy a necklace or bracelet for Millie, it's touch and go as to whether it will actually make it as a gift, or will I wear it myself ?

These photographs were taken when I was visiting my sister in London, and Millie wanted to show me all her jewelery................ Actually, that's a fib, I asked Millie to show me her jewelery collection! And then we both took photographs on my camera, so I'm not sure which of these photos are mine, or Millie's, (except the top one, that's definately one I took). When I buy these gifts for my Niece, I'm not sure who gets more enjoyment out of it, me or Millie ...................... It's probably me, isn't it?
Oh I'm sure Millie loves it too! Little ones have a radar for joyous colour! t.x

they are bling-tastic! I'm sure she loves it every bit as much, and loves having a wonderful Aunt to indulge her jewellery love. (Tell her Dad he'd have a lot more to worry about if you were encouraging an admiration of rubies and diamonds in her - that would be a pricy hobby!)

I have 3 nieces. When they were young they were my little shopping-buddies. I would take them to the mall and just tell them to go nuts! I loved seeing them so happy.
Now, 30 years later, (yikes....) they always talk about our'shopping excursions'
and are 3 of the most stylish girls around!
Whenever you mention Millie it always reminds me of them!
(oh, and I used to knit them each a sweater for Christmas every year. My sister has saved most of them. )

Oh how funny, I recently went shopping with my gang to a big toy shop and bought for myself a childs beaded necklace, I just loved it so much, little coloured wooden beads strung on elastic...me and Rosie had a fight over it when we got home becasue she wanted it for herself...she ended up taking it from my bedroom when I wasn't looking and broke it..I was GUTTED!!!
I often think girl jewelery/hair slides/bags/purses etc are fantastic, Acccessorize/Monsoon especially has such a beautiful selection...ahhhh I feel a shopping trip coming on!
Lxxxxxxx
ps Vanessa, I owe you an email, I am sorry, I lose track of time....will mail soon, or maybe will phone for a chat????? Thinking of you in your new pink studio, lucky girl!
