Hello! Cup of tea and a relax time! For me, hopefully for you too?
The flower heads in the cup above, are purple Asters. When I saw the plant in the garden centre, I could not resist its vibrant charms. And since planting it in the garden, (in one of the few remaining bare areas of soil), the yellow and purple combination has been creeping into bits and bobs I've been crocheting.
Did you notice the heart shape the flowers have formed in the cup? I'm sure you did!
I started crocheting some hearts for the crochet swap I participated in, with Melanie, do you remember this post?
Here's a little reminder or the heart bunting I made for Melanie. The pattern is from Bella Dia, and you can find her 'sweet heart crochet pattern' here.
Once I started crocheting these hearts, I found it difficult to stop. I got addicted to trying out different colour combinations, and it felt very exciting! I found myself dipping into the yarn stash I'd bought for my next project. I haven't quite settled on what my next project is yet, but I have bought the coloured yarns for it. And the colours are BRIGHT! I'm itching to get my sisterhood crochet blanket finished, I don't want to start anything big until that's done and dusted. I've been inspired for my colour choices by a lady called Sarah London. Sarah's crochet is quite simply stunning, and after I've looked at it, I always feel like I've slid down a rainbow, and dropped into a tropical fish tank, I love it!
I've been plugging on with my sisterhood crochet blanket, and here are a few of the green squares that will go into the mix. I can't wait to show you how it's getting on, (I keep on forgetting to take photos).
And I know I promised a joining of the squares tutorial, and a tutorial for the ring, and one for the necklace! Honestly, I haven't forgotten, promise!
Hugo has arrived home from work, and we agreed to hang some pictures that have been propped against walls for months, coming on for over a year.......... if not years! So I'd better stop nattering, and go. Lovely to see you again, and I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Love Vanessa xxx
The asters are pretty but I'm more in love with that glass teacup and saucer. Spill the beans, where did you find it (please)?!

I can never think what colour to mix with purple. You've found the perfect mix with the mustardy yellow Vanessa. Now off to find your link to the rainbow crochet lady.

Two days blogs to read - bliss, especially after a very trying and tiring day. Hope your pictures have been hung beautifully. We are having a tremendous storm down here but hopefully it will clear the air. Looking forward to seeing the sisterhood blanket - I think the colours you have chosen are beautiful. Karenx

I love them! The hearts are so cute. I love the way you have taken the colours from the flowers and nature. I have always had a bit of trouble with colour, but your posts are helping me to understand colour and to look at the colour combinations in nature. Thank you for the lovely comment about my jewelry, and thank you for visiting my blog, and all your insperational (sp) posts!
Big Hugs, Bethxx

Asters are so lovely aren't they... simple daisy-type flower, which is one of my favourites and I have several different types of flowers with daisy like petals and so on, around the garden... love feverfew for it's simplicity though not the smell, and big dog daisies, and little asters. How lucky is Melanie to get that bunting!!

I loved the photos in your last post vanessa, and the story you have created in my head with your description of how one should dress at these private garden open days just makes me want to be right there with you in my smart black trousers and a cream silk ruffle bibbed blouse! And of course an oversized floppy straw hat. Next time you go to one show us a photo of you all glammed up!

The asters are the icing on the cake with your lovely cup and saucer!
You always have lovely color combinations, and your hearts and squares demonstrate that amply. Your eye for color has inspired me - on of the last mitered squares I knit for my daughter's blanket was a combination of aqua and red, thanks to your beautiful pictures pointing out how pretty that was on your recent vacation in Greece. Otherwise, it never would have occurred to be to put those two colors together!

I just love Asters - the colours are fabulous and you have photograpohed them beautifully. The crochet hearts look quite difficult?!?!?!? They would look gorgeous hanging in my room which faces the garden - you are sooo clever! I have finished my 'granny sqaure' project and have just posted some photographs on my blog! Hugs, Jane x

Your Asters are soooo pretty :) They remind me of my dear nana whom used to have a beautiful flower gardern and Asters were her favourites.
Your crocheting is really pretty too :)

Some times things created artificially appeal more than the Natural ones. Your Floral designs are just like that, Colors full of variety and finishing at its extreme.
