Hello dear reader! How are you today? You feeling chipper, you feeling happy? No? Yes? Hope it's a big YES! Just incase you wanted to know if I'm feeling full of the joys of life, yes I am. And that's a big YES! You wanna know why? Well, my blog was nominated by a mysterious unknown darling, to be entered into the Dorset cerals 'little blogs award'. (Well, actually, hundreds of other tip-top and very fab blogs have been entered too, but we'll gloss over that shall we?!).
The funny thing is, just as an aside, I'm sitting here eating a bowl of Dorset cereal for my supper. (Hugo isn't able to cook tonight, he's working late, and won't be back before I go off for my Wednesday night knitting, and rather than cooking for myself, I'm attending to the more important business of doing a blog post!). It's one of the brown packets, not the fibre one, the other one.
I was saying to Hugo at lunch time, (he comes home for lunch every day), what a genius marketing idea Dorset Cereals has come up with, doing these blog awards, don't you think?
I took the above photo more than a year ago, it's on the wall in one of the stations of the London Underground. I've been wondering when I'd get to use it. Now I feel is exactly the right moment! When I last looked to see if I'd got any votes at the little blogs line-up, I spied thirteen votes. Most of those will be my Mum and Dad, my sister (hopefully), my husband (definitely), three people I work with (thank you so much), one very nice commenter, (who alerted me this morning that I'd been nominated, and that she had voted for me, aren't you lovely!), how many is that? I don't know who the other six votes are from, but I'm thrilled to get your votes, thank you! So would you like to give me vote number fourteen? Yes? Whooppeee! If you go to this link, you can cast your vote, and I'll be very happy indeed, thank you so much.
Shall we return to sock pictures then?
These colour buzzing socks are sold by a man in the Wednesday market, who I only know as 'the sock man'. He doesn't know I think of him as 'the sock man'. I'm just the lady with a big grin on her face, taking photos of his socks, of which he seems to be quite proud (the socks that is). I do also buy some of his socks.
The young ladies love his socks apparently.
The socks in the above photo were from his stall, and so were the socks I wore in the next photo.
I really want a pair of spotty socks, must go and see Mr.Socks about them next Wednesday.
Boden has some gorgeous spotty socks here. But at £25 for the seven pairs, p&p on top of that, they're too expensive for me, much as I love them. Wouldn't it be great if they sold them as individual pairs? Plus, your choice of colour is taken away by them being sold as a pack. (Annoyed sniff). I shall just have to see what trusty Mr.Socks has on his market stall, won't I? Well, I need to go and gather my knitting together, for my looked forward to Wednesday night knitting. Lovely to see you, and see you again tomorrow maybe? Yes? Goody! Love Vanessa xxx
All done, happy to oblige, your blog is lovely x

The voting is up to 33 - I can't handle the tension anymore, I think another cup of tea is in order. Those diamond socks are sublime. Did you keep changing socks for the photo shoot - that is commitment to brining your readers the lateset cutting edge news. I love Mr.Sockman's stall. I would go mad I think. Quite literally.

HI Vanessa... you now have 51 votes :) I voted even though technically I am supposed to live in the UK - Shhhh! We won't tell them I am Australia? our secret.
Love the photos of the socks - there are at least 3 pairs in those photos that I would love to own :( Sadly here in my little one horse town I can't even buy socks!! Gasp! Well I think you can get black work socks at the supermarket - but really they don't count?
I'm excited today as its only 2 more sleeps till our holiday :) Shopping here I come.. I just set myself a challenge to find some funky socks :)

I'd vote for you if I were a UK resident! I hope you win!
Lovely colorful socks - and they look so nice with your handiwork.

Can I vote if I'm in the US? Well, I did anyway, I couldn't help myself. Your blog is just delightful, and reading it is one of the first things I do in the morning to get my day off on the right foot.

I voted for you too - that makes 57 I think. I don't know what Dorset cereals are like, nor do I want them to send me any (they probably only send to somewhere in the UK anyway) but your blog definitely is worth my vote.

I think I was vote no. 59! Hey Vanessa, what are you making at your Wednesday night knitting group? Its Thursday night in New Zealand and I am off out to watch the NZ Army band perform - along with my two brass playing lads, 12 (tuba) and 14 (cornet). I just had a weekend with my wee nephews and altho I am a Mum I was k-nackered too!

Vanessa! How exciting... I'm from the States and have never had the pleasure of actually eating Dorset cereals, but I now have had the pleasure of voting for you on their site!!! I was number 94!!! You so deserve this, because your site (I just found it last week) is so wonderful... love the color and your sunny disposition. You have brightened most of my mornings this week! Keep it up, and congrats!
