Hello !!!!!! D'you have a bit of a wet and watery weekend like us? After the dazzling summer days, all the rain we're getting has come as a bit of a shock, even though it's familiar weather.
STILL! In the great British tradition of tally ho, we did not let a bit of rain prevent us from going to an open garden on Sunday. Saturday was spent working, Sunday was spent guzzling cake, slurping tea, and wandering round the most exquisite garden I've seen in a long time.
(The Jack Russell in the above photo is Cuddy, who we're looking after for two-and-a-half weeks, he's the running machine I mentioned in my last post).
(Notice how his Royal Highness has his eyes closed above! He's actually asleep as he's being carried around in the bag!!!!!!!).
Sometimes, I think a series of pictures is nicer to wander through, to conjure up an experience, rather than my ramblings.
We've visited this garden once before, but there must have been some changes made, and lots of new planting, because on this visit, the garden was breathtaking, truly beautiful, and we don't recall having this reaction to it on our last visit.
I didn't take any photographs of the extensive house, but you can see an assortment of photographs previously published by other people here, to get an idea of how grand it is.
And if you've got a bit of "loose change" in your pocket, you could buy an apartment in Tyninghame House, have a private view here (it's fascinating!). (I don't know how long this link will be active).
There are two pairs of Pigeons sitting in the tree over-hanging our garden, we're guessing they're two couples. It's very sweet.
Cheerio! Love Vanessa xxx
Vanessa what a beautiful garden!
I'm rather envious that you had a wet weekend as we've had no appreciable rain for nearly 2 months and my garden is parched

Oh Vanessa,
What a beautiful garden. The afternoon tea looked yummy too.
We are doggy sitting in August. My daughter`s boyfriend`s Jack Russell called "Snoop". He, too, is a ruuning machine!

Oh! That garden is glorious. Love the irises.

What a gorgeous gorgeous garden! Is it early for irises or is that normal? Don't know why, I think of them as later summer flowers.
Really enjoyed your coffee with canines interview. I've just come back from somewhere where there were doggies PARTOUT as well as their poo. So much so, that it was somewhat traumatizing. Accordingly, I had to have a huge laugh at Ellie's "moment" in the bank. Because poo at several removes is very much more manageable and quite a relief.
I am missing your papier mache figures and your wedding post was lovely. Also thrilled to see the picture of your painting of your parents - I was so relieved to see that I'd chosen a very similar frame for the painting that you sent me. (Now I really HAVE to send you a picture!)
Have a lovely week! Sorry about the rain. It's been chilly and rainy in L.A. too.

I think that running machine would like some of that cake to fuel his exercise :-)

Who's the other dog on your first photo? He looks quite about to pounce for that cake! Anyway, the archway is simply breathtaking! It must have smelled fantastic with those flowers all around you!
